Stages involved with new installations of Wet Pour

STAGE 1 - PREPARATION OF BASE/FOUNDATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE INSTALLATION OF RUBBER SAFETY SURFACE

Removal of bark from the playground at Kew Primary School Excavation of dirt to accomodate new the crush rock base and wet pour surface
  • If your existing base is grass, sand or bark, then you will need to get this removed.
  • The area will need to be excavated to accommodate the new base plus the desired rubber thickness (depending on fall height requirements)
  • If your existing base is asphalt or concrete or similar, this will be a suitable base for Rubberworx to start installing the rubber surface – you will be advised at the time of the onsite consultation.

STAGE 2 - DRAINAGE & EDGING NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED (If required)

Removal of bark from the playground at Kew Primary School Edging erected to create a cleaner finish
  • If additional drainage is required, drainage systems will be positioned at this stage
  • Edging of the Wetpour area is erected if required.

STAGE 3 - INSTALL 3D SHAPES/PLAY EQUIPMENT (if required)

  • 3D shapes with metal shafts for additional support are positioned and buried
  • Installation of any play equipment if not yet installed is done at this stage.

STAGE 4 - INSTALL CRUSHED ROCK (OR CONCRETE) BASE
(if required)

Crush rock distributed around the entire surface Crush rock distributed around the entire surface
  • Crushed Rock base is distributed across the proposed wetpour area.
  • Crushed rock base is compacted to create a firm base. The thickness of the rock is determined on the application of the surface, crushed rock is the preferred base as it is the most cost effective.  Once the suitable base is prepared, Rubberworx can begin the rubber surface installation.

STAGE 5 - PATTERN/SHAPE DESIGNS ARE MARKED OUT BY RUBBERWORX

STAGE 6 - WETPOUR INSTALLED BY RUBBERWORX

Raw recycled rubber is installed to areas requiring fall height Raw recycled rubber is installed to areas requiring fall height
  • If a fall height is required an open cell cushion is installed to a suitable thickness.
  • The thickness is determined by the fall height requirements
  • The final layer of your specified rubber choice and design is applied.
